We are deeply saddened to hear of the death of Bob Hinchman last Saturday, March 7, in his home at Ship Bottom, on Long Beach Island. His twin brother, John, was by his side, as he usually was in childhood. They had lived on Euclid Avenue and attended Lizzy Haddon Elementary School. The Hinchman twins, Craig Miller, Nancy Justice Duncan Linda Grimsley, and Sally Cooper were all active in the Baptist Church. Bob never married and spent his retirement with John living at the shore, their favorite place, in the house owned by their family for 91 years. He had worked for Sherwin Williams and then SECO Financial. Bob was an avid surf fisherman who taught many others how to fish. He lived at 27th Street in Ship Bottom and was well known and liked in the community for his humor and kindness. Bob died from cancer; services will be private. Many thanks to Craig Miller, John Hinchman, and Sally Cooper for the information.

Ah, Bob, Bob...
And cancer takes another of our chums. I was much closer to John Hinchman. I always had the feeling Bob wanted to fit in more with the "cool" crowd. He was not a bad egg, to be sure. One day, though (and I don't know why, but he wasn't the only one) he wanted to fight me. I probably said as long as we don't hit in the face. But anyway, there was no clear outcome.
I wanted to get in touch with the Hinchman boys, some years ago, but never did track them down. I'm certainly sorry to hear we've lost another one. Still, as some of you at least know, I believe in the resurrection of the dead in the not-to-distant future (Acts 24:15). So for me, it's not a permanent loss, just a temporary one.
