Richard Reiter

Richard Reiter

As noted on the "You Know You're From Haddonfield" page and Brunswick News, Richard Reiter passed away May 5 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He had retired on St. Simons Island off the coast of Georgia after a career with Hercules which was headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware. I haven't been able to find any other details to date. The family will be releasing arrangements. Very sad to lose another classmate.

From Richard's profile written in 2017:

He graduated from the University of Delaware in 1971 with  BA and BSEE degrees. His career was spent entirely at Hercules/Ashland/Pinova (same) working as a Project/Process Control Engineer.  He lived 1966-1977 in Newark, Delaware; 1974-75 in Montreal, Canada (7-month winter). In 1975 he met and married Mely (Melanie) in Tampico, Mexico, where they enjoyed an 8-month summer. In 1976-77 they were back for 7 months of winter in Montreal, then settled in Hopewell, Virginia from 1977-1980. They have lived in St. Simons Island, Georgia, from 1980 to present.

Richard mentioned having a sister in Ashland, New Jersey, a brother in Haddonfield, and a sister in Voorhees. Their son Nick was born in 1979 and daughter Angie in 1981. His daughter and two grandchildren lived west of Philadelphia at that time.

I'm so grateful he took the time to share these details on his life on our website!
