Cheryl was cute, gentle, and fragile-looking. I'm sorry she's gone.

Cheryl graduated from Moravian College, Bethlehem, PA, and married Robert Gingrich. They had two children, a son Robert and daughter Tara. Cheryl, Janet Haynes, Lois Young, Ted Pearson, Bill Eldridge, David Dalton, Kathy Moore and I (and more whom I can't remember) were in Presbyterian Church choirs together from the time we were three (Cherub Choir) through senior year (Thomas Sherrerd Memorial Choir). Cheryl shared a gentle smile and pensive eyes and was always kind to everyone.

I, too (until in 1975 I became one of Jehovah's Witnesses) attended the First Presbyterian Church in Haddonfield, under the direction of Thomas P. Lindsay. I never heard the choir. Just the same, I remember Cheryl. I do wish she had been better recognized. I liked her very much as a fellow student. I'm ever so sorry she's gone. I'm surprised I'm still here! I only could wish everyone I knew in H.S. was also still here. Especially Cheryl.

Cheryl was my best friend in high school and we shared many hours together. She was painfully shy when faced with certain activities at school, such as having to make a speech in front of a class. In a list of predictions of what each student in our class would turn out to be, she was predicted to become the "winner of a 10-day silence marathon." However, those who got to know her well were rewarded with the friendship of a very kind person. I remember our participation in church activities, such as collecting for UNICEF, trips to the Cherry Hill Mall, and lots of time at each other's houses. She met and married a really nice man and I was her maid of honor at their wedding. We remained in touch for many years. I did not know of her passing until I read about it on this site a few days ago, and I now know why my last letter to her went unanswered, as I wrote it around that time period and just thought that we had lost touch. I was very saddened to learn that she is gone. She was a gentle soul and a great friend.

Vince unearthed this picture of Chery'l daughter's wedding announcement in the Cape Gazette, Friday December 10, 1999.  I can see Cheryl's face in her daughter's.
